Abdu Ali’s musical journey began in late 2012, when they released their debut mixtape, “Invictos.” That 12-track introduction to the world was tightly positioned somewhere in the crevices between rap, ballroom, and Baltimore club music. Lyrically, though, it felt like something you may hear at a poetry reading, with mystical incantations and showering of self-love.
